Facebook enjoys more than 1.69 billion users each month. With this many people active on the platform, your target audience is bound to be on there. Therefore, if you're not using Facebook for your business, you could be missing out on many benefits.

When using Facebook for your business, it’s important to remember that the more customer insights you have, the better you can become at creating and delivering meaningful content to your audience.

Facebook’s audience insights give you a complete overview of all the activity on your business page; it offers deeper insights, too. If you click on the ‘people’ tab, for example, it will show you details about your audience, such as their age, gender, and more.

Using these analytics, you can create targeted content, based on the age and gender of your audience. The image above shows a 50/50 audience split, and that visitors to the page are aged between 25-34.

What appeals to your audience can differ. For example, it’s unlikely that retirees would understand references to trends/cultures/shows that are popular with people in their late teens (we’re generalising, of course, but you get where we’re coming from). Though you should aim to convey the same message, how you convey it should be customised to each age group.

Facebook is a great platform to help increase your brand awareness, driving your audience towards your website, targeted advertising which you can monitor and improve, and you can easily keep in contact with clients and get feedback.

There are loads of tools specific to the Facebook platform that you can use to increase the visibility of your posts, e.g. hashtags (though they’re not as prevalent on Facebook as Instagram or Twitter); boosted posts and similar sponsored ads; scheduling content so that it appears when your audience is active on the platform; automated responses via Facebook Messenger; and plenty of third-party apps that work in conjunction with the social media giant – all of which will help give your business a boost.
