How to Create the Perfect Bronzed Makeup Look for Summer

A bronzed makeup look has become particularly popular over the last year or so, especially in summer, paired with a natural tan. But this isn’t the first time it has been ‘trending’, the bronzed makeup look is timeless, so you won’t be wasting your time perfecting this look. The aim is to create a natural sun-kissed glow without looking too overdone. This look can easily be achieved by beginners, especially when using the right products and application techniques. 

Hydrating base 

How your makeup turns out largely depends on how you prep your skin. Many people are now using ChatGPT to create a personalised skincare routine. Before applying any makeup products, the least you should do is prep your skin with a hydrating moisturiser and protect your skin with a layer of SPF. Even better if you can get a 2-in-1 moisturiser which has SPF in. If you want your makeup to last all day, the next step is to apply a primer. Now you have prepped your skin, you can go in with your chosen base depending on how much coverage you would like. For summer, it is best to keep it lightweight like tinted moisturiser; however, if you want more coverage, a lightweight foundation will still provide a natural finish. 

Bronzer 

Bronzer is going to be your best friend when it comes to creating a bronzed look, hence the name. Cream bronzer is the best type of bronzer to use for achieving a seamless finish as it is easily blendable. When it comes to applying your bronzer, you want to place it where the sun would naturally hit your face. This includes the forehead, temples, nose and cheekbones. If you would like to define your jawline more, you can also apply some along your jawline, as long as it is blended in well. It can be easy to accidentally apply too much and make the bronzer look slightly muddy. Make sure you gradually build the colour to avoid this happening. 

Blush 

Now you have added the warmth, you want to bring some colour back into your face, blush is perfect for doing this. Apply the blush (cream preferably) to the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards. If you want a more sunkissed look, you can also apply the blush on the bridge of your nose. This year a more toasted blush is popular to create the bronzed look however, every skin tone tends to suit a different shade of blush. 

Natural Glow 

For some people, the blush and bronze create enough of a glow that they don’t want to add more product. However, for those who do want more of a glow, adding some subtle highlighter at the tip of your cheekbone and bridge of your nose can finish the look. 

Finishing Touches 

Now your face is done; to complete the look, it is time for eyes. Brush some bronzer over your eyelids and add a few strokes of mascara to bring your eyes to life. If you have light coloured eyes, put eyeliner in your waterlines to make your eyes stand out more. Finally, add a nude lip or a glossy lip to really complete the look. With this being a summer look, you might want to finish with some setting spray to help your look last in the warm weather.
